Not too long ago, I first learned about the research of Dr. Masaru Emoto, a Japanese scientist and a pioneer in the study of water, born in Yokohama, Japan, in 1943. He was fascinated to discover that the molecular structure of water can be influenced by thoughts, words, and music. His research blew me away - wow!! People exist of 70 % water; that’s why it is so important to talk and think nicely to ourselves!
Dr. Emoto's work emphasizes that our thoughts and words can influence the molecules around us, highlighting the importance of mindfulness in our interactions with ourselves and others. I encourage you to read his work if you haven't already!
And here is why his research matters for my story…
For those of you who don’t know my journey, I struggled with life for seven years and lost the will to live - not even the love of my children could change the urge for me to end my life. I was consumed by negative thoughts about how I looked, and I constantly told myself I was not good enough, dumb, stupid, and ugly. During those long and painful years, I truly believed my negative thoughts, and that dominated my life.
After seven years of not living, a special person in my life recommended I travel to India (the home of spiritual healing) with the hope that I could come off all of the medication I had been prescribed over the years. While this was the answer for me, it is not the answer for everyone. Please consult your doctor, like I did, before making decisions about your medication.
I’m so lucky that this journey worked, and, for me, removing the medication from my system allowed me to get better and feel again for the first time in years. I could feel and appreciate life - I felt the wind on my skin and saw beautiful trees and flowers around me. The moment that I became aware of the influence I had on my own (negative) thoughts empowered me to transform my life. I am so blessed to have been given this amazing gift of life. Now, I realize I can achieve anything I set my mind to.
Over the last few years, I discovered profound happiness in caring for many people, many of whom are struggling with life. During my time with them, I found the urge to write down my methods and thoughts to help and inspire them. I also began my research into how to find a happy and healthy balance in life and, after many months, devised a method for others to follow - I call it “The Way” - a simple 4-step program to help you regain a love of life, balancing mental and physical health. It is essentially a road map to happiness! I took that method and put it in a book so that I could help as many people as possible. MY JOURNAL releases on February 27 around the world!
You are what you think you are!
We can influence how we feel by changing our way of thinking and focusing on the positives in life. Tell yourself nice things, feed yourself well, be confident in who you are, and give yourself the praise you deserve. You are healing yourself!
I genuinely believe that staying positive helps you stay healthy, but it's also important to be kind to yourself. Have you noticed that angry people get sick so much more frequently? Positive people live longer and are so much happier in their lives.
It is all about your choices and how you talk to yourself.
Thank you, Dr. Emoto!
This also reminds me of a piece I read by Sadhguru, an Indian yoga guru, who said that even when there is no proof, let’s think positively and heal the world. If we can focus on what is right, not what is wrong, and be nice to each other and ourselves, then we can positively influence others.
Stay positive. With love,
Maggie
